My Packing Mistakes

When packing for travelling, we put things in, take things out, and stress over the minor details. After posting my packing lists (beauty and clothes), I thought I would do a little update onย my packing mistakes, in the hopes that you can avoid the same issues!

I happily packed three of my favourite nail polishes in my luggage (Essie Ladylike, Essie Splash of Grenadine and Essie Cosy Cardi). These three polishes would see me through all seasons! Unfortunately, all three of them burst. To be perfectly honest, a little crying happened. I am still yet to pick up a replacement nail polish on my trip, I am far too traumatised (and can’t decide on a colour).

After the nail polish debarcle, I realised after some time that my nails and toes were painted when I left, and now I had no colour to touch it up. I also happened to forget nail polish remover. *facepalm*ย I picked up a cheap drugstore branded polish remover to get me by. It worked really well actually!

The next packing faux pas was packing a pair of thongs (shoes that is non-Australians). While they’ve been great and I’ve been wearing them a tonne, I really wish I had brought comfortable sandals that could be dressed up OR down.

Lastly, while I love LUSH Solid Shampoo Bars, it really didn’t work well on my travels. It was difficult to store (those LUSH tins are impossible for me to open!) and after transferring to a sealed bag, it was soggy and pretty unusable. So bummed.

What are your packing mistakes?ย

  • Oh what?! They exploded?! Geez! I hope you had them in a ziplock bag or something!! That could have been a disaster!! Once you get to western Europe, you will have access to Sephora, and will have an unlimited choice of colours!!

Don’t worry, they were in a ziplock bag, I learnt from previous travels! Just so bummed out

bummer about the polishes! hope they didn’t destroy anything else along with them!

Luckily no! Thank goodness for ziplock bags!! Pretty unlucky that all three burst ๐Ÿ™

  • Oh boy that’s the worst, when nail polishes burst! I hope everything else is intact tho!!

Thankfully yes, thank you for asking! ๐Ÿ˜˜

  • Noooo! Not the Essie polishes! I would have been majorly bummed. After a few disasters, I’ve learned to pack all liquids in some sort of plastic in case of explosions or leaks and I’ve also learned not to overpack. Those jeans that you never wear at home will more than likely not be worn when you travel either! Capsule wardrobes for the win!

Very good points! I had my liquids all in ziplock bags (including the polish thank goodness). And I just tossed a skirt I’ve worn once on the trip and was taking up valuable space!!

  • Oh no!!! I hope you pick up some new and prettier colours soon! That’s such a bummer. My travel mistake is that I always take too much … especially makeup when I generally always buy new stuff and want to use that while I’m away. I also usually pack x amount of shirts, pants, dresses etc and don’t always think about how each item will work in an outfit! I’m trying to get better with it!!!

I was under strict instructions by the boy to not overpack makeup! I think I did pretty well, but he still thinks I don’t need it all. What do boys know! ๐Ÿ˜› X
